Anoop Deoras is the Director of Applied Sciences for Generative AI Applications and Developer Experiences at Amazon Web Services (AWS), where he leads artificial intelligence and machine learning initiatives for Amazon Q cross three major generative AI areas: Cloud Engineering, Code Development, and Large Code and System Migrations. With over 15 years of industry experience, Anoop has held leadership positions at Netflix, building its Deep Learning based Personalization Engine, and Microsoft, focusing on Large-scale Language Models, Automatic Speech Recognition, and Spoken Language Understanding for Virtual Personal Assistant Products. Anoop was among the first to champion the use of deep learning for solving challenges in speech recognition and spoken language understanding, publishing with Geoffery Hinton on the topic. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, holds multiple patents in language understanding and speech processing, and earned his MS and PhD degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University. Anoop is based in South Bay, loves to hike with his family, and has hiked Mt. Whitney in a single day.
