About me
Hello, I’m Alok Ranjan, an Engineering Manager at Dropbox overseeing the Storage Platform team in the infrastructure org. My team focuses on providing interfaces for file and block storage, along with encryption, compression, and verification of user data. With a master’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University, I began my career at Cisco Systems, working on networking technologies. I've led projects at VMware, Big Switch Networks, and Dropbox, focusing on improving network monitoring and system operations. While at Dropbox we use AI tools in our work, but it's not my team's primary focus. However, I also mentor engineers at an AI-based startup, which keeps me up-to-date on developments in the AI world.
