KEYNOTE: RoMade -- Medical Diagnosis with AI: AI-PAD, Innovation in Peripheral Arterial Disease Detection

The Artificial Intelligence-Assisted Diagnosis for Peripheral Arterial Disease (AI-PAD) is a multidisciplinary digital health initiative - one of the key areas we explore in our Research Department, in collaboration with “Al. I. Cuza” University of Iași.

Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is a disease in which plaque builds up in the arteries, limiting the flow of oxygen-rich blood to the head, organs and limbs. A complete medical evaluation of PAD is based on computed tomography angiography (angio-CT).
 
Given the complexity of the diagnostic process, our aim is to develop an intelligent software system able to automatically identify the arteries, detect abnormalities and facilitate the diagnosis. The software system is based on integrating Artificial Intelligence technologies in diagnostic imaging.
Our presentation will cover the challenges we faced in implementing the machine learning mechanisms required for the decision support component.
