Brian T. O'Neill, Designing for Analytics, Founder

One day, your CEO called a meeting, and said the company’s strategy was changing to “AI.” “We gotta have AI to maintain our market position or differentiate.” They don’t know how or what they want to do exactly, and nor does anyone else. You roll your eyes and play the “solution in search of a problem” track in your head, because it would probably fall on deaf ears anyways.

The thing is, GenAI, ML and AI in general are not going away, and the data science and engineering teams are likely heads down building your data infrastructure. Your execs see a massive technology change on the horizon, and they want to lead—not follow. Your UX team is supposed to get involved somehow “to make sure it’s easy to use,” but the mandates are broad and vague; what is a product leader supposed to do? Slap that textarea box on your GUI so you have “GenAI”? Write some prompt guides?

This session is for senior product and UX leaders who are tasked with a mandate to deal with AI in an environment where there is no clear strategy as to whether AI is the right solution, and there is a lot of ambiguity. You’ll leave with some useful context to approach discussions with your senior colleagues, and some ideas for getting on board with a train that is not going to stop.
